KAY ABELLA
Kay Abella earned her undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She spent a few years at the House of Representatives where she handled social policy issues related to agriculture, the environment and national defense right after graduation.
Kay later moved on to go after her interest in food service as she took up her Master’s Degree in Food Service Administration in UP. This she pursued while she gained experience and competence in the different aspects of the hospitality industry.
She is currently the Associate Director for Food & Beverage, an internal ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001 auditor and the Deputy Management Representative for the Environment at the Meralco Management and Development Center (MMLDC). She is also the Editor-in-Chief of the MMLDC Highlights.
Apart from her duties at MMLDC Kay also keeps busy going “about the Father’s business” of encouraging, counseling and building up young people to mature in their relationship with the Lord in both spiritual and practical ways. Kay also spends time in activities that seek to unite the Body of Christ in the Philippines through concerts, prayer events, conferences, mission trips and other Body ministries. She is a worship leader at her local church (River of God) and is passionate about experiencing a transformational move of God in the Philippines that reflects the Father’s heart and purpose for every Filipino. That is why she is partnering with like-minded individuals such as Alex Lacson and the Kabayanihan Foundation to put action into her passion of seeing a Philippines that is truly free and prosperous in every way.
GLYNDA BATHAN-BATERINA
Glynda Bathan-Baterina, Policy and Partnership Manager, Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities (CAI-Asia) Center. Glynda Bathan is a lawyer working with CAI-Asia Center, an NGO dedicated to better air quality and livable cities. As Policy and Partnership Manager, she assists eight Country Networks in Asia (China, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and India) in partnership building, knowledge sharing, project development and implementation. She manages clean air programs including the Clean Air and Blue Skies Asia Exchange Program, Ligtas Hangin (Save the Air) Campaign, Asia Clean Fuels and Vehicles Program, and ASEAN-German Technical Cooperation Clean Air for Smaller Cities Project-Philippine Activities.
She received a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from a joint program of the University of San Francisco and the Ateneo de Manila University in 2007. She formed part of the team of consultants which assisted the Philippine government in drafting the implementing rules and regulations of the Philippine Clean Air Act.
TEODORO LLOYDON BAUTISTA
Dr. Lloyd Bautista served in the Philippine government for almost eight years; holding various key posts in the Department of Agrarian Reform, Civil Service Commission and Government Service Insurance System. He is now a full-time faculty at the University of Asia & the Pacific since May 2008. He is also a Senior Fellow and Consultant in the Development Academy of the Philippines. He is also a Faculty Associate in the Center for Research & Communication of UA&P. This center is a think-tank of both national and local governments, private industries, and civic groups.
Before joining the government and academe, Dr. Bautista obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree major in Philosophy at the Ateneo De Manila University. He graduated with a Masters degree in Public Administration, specializing in Public Policy, at the University of the Philippines. He received one of the highest weighted average in his class, and thus becoming a recipient of the Lifetime Alumnus Membership Award. It was also in the University of the Philippines where he finished his PhD in Public Administration Presently, he is now about to complete his MA in Business Economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific.
He has been invited in different universities as guest speaker and lecturer in the following courses: Organizational Management, Human Resources, Strategic Planning and Control, Administrative Theories and Systems, Fiscal Management, Research and Statistics, and Public Policy. Dr. Lloyd Bautista was born in Manila on March 19, 1972 and would trace his ancestral roots in the Province of Nueva Ecija. Married to Marjorie Adigue, he has two daughters and one son – Martie, Alyana, and Iňigo.
PAUL CHUA
Paul Y Chua, Ph.D, is an Electronics and Communication Engineering graduate from De La Salle University, Bachelors of Criminology graduate of the University of Lasalette and a Masters in Customs Administration graduate of Philippine Maritime Institute. He was also a scholar of the National Defense College of the Philippines and a Master in National Security Administrator (MNSA). He is a Doctor of Philosophy (Peace and Security Administration) graduate of Bicol University.
As a youth leader, Dr. Paul Chua was a three (3) time student leadership award recipient of the Student Development Office (SDO) as he represented DLSU in inter-school youth related development projects as peer minister and facilitator.
After college, he was offered scholarships in Japan and the United States but decided to stay in the Philippines and serve the Filipinos. He was a consultant of the National Youth Commission and speaks in student leadership trainings. In addition, Dr. Chua works with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) technical working committees and is consultant for a few government agencies.
Dr. Paul Chua believes in the greatness of the Filipinos and the power of little things. He fully supports the mission and vision of Kabayanihan and the need for cultural change to advance the interests of the Filipinos.
RAYMOND DOMINGO
Raymond S. Domingo or simply Raymond to his friends is an accomplished corporate sales executive. Starting as a property specialist in Century Properties Inc., his love and commitment for his work made him Top Salesperson of the Year 1999 and Centurion of the Year 1999 to name a few.
His vast experience has paved the way to many opportunities. Currently with Alveo Land Inc., Raymond is also an innovator introducing and spearheading various projects such as the 1st Community Innovations Values for Success program (July 28, 2005- The Peninsula Manila), “The Brigada Arangkada Program” and the formation of “The Builders of Men Team”, a group that promotes good work ethics and strong values at the work place.
Raymond has also a very interesting educational background being having red, green and blue in his blood. He graduated Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in San Beda College, finished his Masters Degree in Business Administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business and lastly earned a Diploma in Real Estate Management at the School of Professional and Continuing Education, De La Salle University- College of Saint Benilde.
Despite his busy schedule, Raymond is a family man. He loves playing with his daughters and having weekly dates with his wife. A born-athlete, he has ventured in track and field, karate-do, golf and even fencing. During his free time, you may catch him reading a good book on business, psychology and sports.
Raymond is a strong nationalist and patriot. He is active in promoting love and care for the country. He brings his passion for his country wherever he goes whether it be at home, at work or simple when having fun.
JAY JABONETA
Jay Jaboneta is a hungry man. He eats at least a 100 books a year, loves chocolate and sometimes can’t live without coffee. He has worked for organizations as diverse as the Philippine Government, Procter & Gamble, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. (including Metrobank Card Corporation), and Diethelm Keller SiberHegner (DKSH). He has worked as a sales manager managing over 70 people, managed category management and retail operations for a range of brands for a national supermarket chain, and as a portfolio manager got cardholders to spend more.
He has in many instances, scaled insurmountable “mountains.” He has in the recent past, graduated on top of his class, has built an entire organization of young entrepreneurs from scratch in his university, and was born again after “drowning.” As much as Jay loves to read, he also loves to write. His main goal in life is to stay hungry, stay foolish (Steve Jobs, 2005 Stanford Graduation Speech). Learning comes as much (if not more) from mistakes and failures than from victories and successes.
He believes in God and practices Zen Catholicism – his own brand of Catholicism. He believes life is a complicated phenomenal mystery and that it can never be explained in totality. Jay loves to help people, companies, non-profits and brands breathe life into their brand story. He believes remarkable people and organizations deserve the attention of the world.
ALEX LACSON
Alex is a lawyer by profession. He finished law at the U.P. College of Law in Diliman, and has taken post graduate studies at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also studied at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio for 3 years. In 2007, he took a leadership course at Haggai Leadership Institute in Singapore, where he was chosen to give the valedictory address for all graduates from various countries.
At present, he is a partner at the Malcolm Law Office. He was also a columnist of the BusinessWorld Newspaper for 7 years. He was a former legal counsel of the United Nations Development Programme (or UNDP) in the Philippines for 7 years. He is a champion debater and a sharpshooter. He is an awardee of the Galing Pilipino Award for 2005; an awardee of the Young Filipino Achiever’s Award for 2006 given by Global Pinoy; an awardee of the Good Citizen/Good Filipino Award by the Edsa People Power Commission in 2009; and also a recipient of The Best Filipino Award (in Linguistic) given by M.I. International School in 2009.
Alex was one of the young and new faces invited by Pres. Benigno Aquino III to run for senator last May 2010 elections. Alex Lacson is 45 years old, married to a beautiful wife, and father to 4 wonderful children.
FRED MISON
Siegfred is a graduate of distinguished schools – the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York in 1987, the Ateneo Law School in 1996, and the University of Southern California in 2006. Siegfred had served the Philippine Army for 12 years before joining the legal profession. He led several counterinsurgency operations in his capacity as a Company Commander and Battalion Intelligence Officer in the provinces of Samar and Bataan.
As a partner of Malcolm Law (PESALAM before) since 1999, his areas of practice include estate planning and settlements, real estate transactions, contract negotiations, corporate law, and immigration. Siegfred is licensed to practice law in the Philippines and in California, USA. He has been a Professor of the University of the East College of Law since 1998 and of the Ateneo Law School since 2000. He also taught at the College of Law of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and San Sebastian College of Law. His teaching expertise is in Civil Law including Obligations and Contracts, Wills and Succession, Persons and Family Relations, Land Titles and Deeds, Sales, Partnership and Agency. He was a Deputy Director for Legal Aid, Integrated Bar of the Philippines for five (5) years conducting free legal counseling to indigent clients. He was also the first Executive Director of the UE Legal Aid Clinic in 2003. He has worked in the United States as an in-house counsel for a software development company handling licensing agreements and contract negotiations with Fortune 500 companies. He also authored books entitled “Wills and Succession (Better Explained)” and “Eight Performance Boosters to Conquer Any Law Exam”.
He is blessed with three wonderful children, Regina Victoria (Nica), J. Siegfred Salvador Mison (Jason), and Regina Elena (Elena).
RAUL NAGRAMPA
Raul is a Bicolano. A former member of the Philippine Army, he went into business and consultancy after serving in the AFP for 16 years. He was recently a senior manager of a transmission company before eventually helping out the Alex Lacson senatorial campaign. He has since then rejoined the government as Director under the Presidential Communications Operations Office. Raul has a Bachelor’s Degree from the Philippine Military Academy and a Masters Degree from the Asian Institute of Management.
JOJO POE
Mr. Poe heads a team of highly dedicated professionals who understand the security and facilities management industry and are passionate about raising service standards.
He was an Executive Vice President and Director of PADPAO the guard services industry association for three terms. He is a Magna cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines and finished his M.B.A. at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Mr. Poe’s professional affiliations include being the President, Northwestern University Alumni Association of the Philippines (2003-2004), Executive Vice-President, Philippine Association of Detective & Protective Agency Operators (PADPAO) Inc. (1996), Director, Philippine Association of Detective & Protective Agency Operators (PADPAO) Inc. (1993-1996). He is also a Member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the UP Pan Xenia Fraternity Alumni Association. At present he is the President and CEO of the BCG Group of Companies.
LEONARDO V. PROVIDO
Leonardo V. Provido or Boy to his close friends is a businessman in the fields of construction, distribution, and marketing. He is married with six children. He is a college graduate of the University of Santo Tomas AB Political Science. He also went to the Ateneo Law School and is member of the FRATERNAL ORDER OF UTOPIA member. Boy has been working as a Holcim cement dealer and in the construction supply business for 26 years. He is ready to serve the needs of his countrymen by giving his time and resources whenever called upon. A true Filipino, Boy shows his love for our country by incorporating the 12 Little Things in his everyday life.
ATTY. CHERRY LYN G. OLALIA-RETORIANO
Cherry started her career as a Legal Officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs. After passing the Philippine Bar in 1998, she headed the Legal Division of the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs where she monitored and evaluated legal cases of Overseas Filipinos in all parts of the world. To ensure that the rights of Filipino migrants are amply protected, she visited different countries where there is large concentration of Filipinos to consult with Filipino organizations and law organizations to be kept apprised of the legal, judicial and political system of each country. She also conducted jail visitations to inspect the conditions of Filipinos serving sentence abroad. Among the cities she visited were Hong Kong; Bahrain; Tokyo & Yokohama, Japan; Thailand; Indonesia; Singapore; Laos; Rome & Milan, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; and London, England.
In 2000 Cherry headed the Philippine Delegation to Thailand for the Drafting of the “ASEAN Work Programme to Combat Transnational Crimes”. She also chaired the “ASEAN Ad hoc Experts Group on Trafficking of Women & Children” held in Bali, Indonesia in 2001. Represented the Philippines in the “2nd World Congress on the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children” held in Yokohama, Japan in 2001. She sat as a Panelist for the Philippine government in the negotiation of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) between the Philippines and Switzerland.
In 2003 Cherry took up the challenge of private law practice by co-establishing the Retoriano & Olalia-Retoriano Professional Law Partnership with husband, Jay. The field of expertise of the Firm is Maritime and Labor Law, handling cases for international ship owners who are members of the UK P&I Club. The Firm is likewise a legal service provider of PANDIMAN Philippines for and in behalf of various P&I Clubs.
For Cherry, every job is a blessing from God. In fact, you will always find her smiling when she is working as she makes it a point to find joy in whatever she does. She is also a proud wife, mother and Kabayani!
ATTY. JAY RETORIANO

Before passing the Bar Examination, Jay was a working student previously connected with the Philippine Tourism Authority, Office of the Corporate Legal Counsel, as a legal researcher. He took the Bar Exam in 1999 where the national passing percentage is 16.59%, one of the lowest in the history of the Philippine Bar. Immediately thereafter and even before taking his oath as a full-fledged attorney, he was hired by the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, an international accounting and auditing firm, as a tax consultant.
From Deloitte, Jay became the Administrative and Finance Manager of Pearl Grace Ship management Incorporated, a Philippine registered manning agency whose Principal is Naess Hollad (B.V.). The challenge, exposure, familiarity, practical and theoretical knowledge altogether in the said manning agency ignited his passion to pursue and concentrate more on the field of admiralty law.
To hone his skill and expertise, Jay moved to a Manila based law firm engaged purely in Maritime practice. Thereafter he formed the Retoriano & Olalia-Retoriano Professional Law Partnership with his wife and partner. Currently, Jay is an accredited lawyer and claims handler of the UK P & I Club, an association of ship owners based in the United Kingdom. He is also an accredited lawyer and legal service provider of PANDIMAN Philippines, the largest local correspondent of foreign shipowners in the Philippines. He handles crew and cargo claims for various international ship owners and Principals and engaged in litigation and maritime/labor practice.
ROBERT SO
Engr. Robert So has too many hats to wear. He is a philanthropist, a scientist, and a true environmental advocate. He is a “Go Negosyo” 2008 awardee for “Most Inspiring Biotechnology Enterprise” in the field of advanced waste water treatment technology. His homegrown technology, which has numerous patents under his name, has produced over 200 successful treatment facilities with emphasis on water recycling throughout the nation.
FRANCIS YULO
Francis RMB Yulo earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of St. La Salle Bacolod and finished 5th in his class in the Masters in National Security Administration Regular Class 45 at the National Defense College of the Philippines, with a thesis on patriotism. He has a rich experience and leadership in socio-political issues and movements such as being the Founding Chairman of the Peace Advocates of Negros, Provincial Coordinator of the Yellow Force-Negros Occidental during the 2010 National Elections, Co Convenor of and trustee of Tuloy Pinoy Negros, and Co-Founder of the KAUSAP Student Organization at the University of St. La Salle, to name a few. He was also a very active student leader during his college years and an officer of the USLS Student Government.
He has also been a key figure and speaker in several youth ministries such as the nationwide Jesus Revolution Movement in 2002, Circulo Retreat in La Salle, a professor in the Cursillo Movement, and course director and retreat master of the Christians in Business Retreat, to name a few. An accomplished drummer and musician, he also has a diverse work experience with company positions and affiliations some of which include Director of Advertising Sales, Broadcast Sales Executive and Disc Jockey.
He is currently the President and Managing Director of Green Tag Corporation. Aside from the Kabayanihan Foundation, Francis is also involved with the Philippine Marines as a reserve commissioned officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and a member of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary in which he is a recipient of numerous medals and citations, foremost of which is the Search and Rescue Medal for his involvement in the rescue of 5 fishermen during typhoon “Frank” in 2008. An avid SCUBA diver, he is also an active advocate for the environment and a member of the Negros Recreational Divers Society.
